Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is massage therapy
that is especially focused on resolving pain.

But of course, there’s a bit more to it than that.

Our brand of neuromuscular therapy has two things that make it stand out from more “mainstream” massage – clinical reasoning and highly optimized techniques.

Clinical Reasoning

Of the two differences, the clinical reasoning is what really gives our treatment an edge. Through careful analysis of your daily activities, hobbies, movement patterns, and injury history, we create a picture of the why your body moves the way it does, and where the corrections need to happen.

Now, all of the therapists at Three Peaks Clinic are trained to use a high level of clinical reasoning. The difference to visiting a Neuromuscular Therapist and a Clinical Massage Therapist at our clinic is the application of technique.

Technique

Massage (and this applies to all massage) is the activation of your muscle tissue to cause change. And with NMT, well, we dial it up to 11. We get the muscle contracting as hard as it possibly can, because that way you get as much change as possible in your muscle. More change means faster recovery.

This treatment method has a couple of nice benefits

  • no need to change out of your clothes – we work over clothes
  • treatments are often shorter
  • it takes fewer visits to resolve your problem

So what’s the downside? NMT hurts. A lot. But the pain we cause isn’t (just) for fun. When we identify a muscle that needs to be adjusted, that muscle already is under a lot of stress. Of course when we put that muscle under more stress, you get a (very strong) pain signal.

It also means that, often, people walk out of our clinic with immediate and lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this direct billable? Which category?
Yes! NMT is billable to your massage therapy benefits.

If I go somewhere else to get NMT, will it be the same?
No. Our brand of NMT is completely different from other providers.

Can I get this kind of therapy elsewhere?
Unfortunately, we are the only providers of this treatment at the moment. We’re working on training more therapists though!

How many treatments do I need to solve my problem?
Every case is different, but most clients see significant results within 3 treatments.

How long should I book for?
Depends on your pain tolerance! Every person has different needs, but here’s a general guide:

Specific problem – 30 minutes

Complex problem – 60 minutes

I need you to go slower / dial down the intensity – add 15-30 minutes
